“Things I Learned - 05/06/2021" visualnewt.com/learned/
Hello. It’s Friday. You have something to celebrate. Time for the ceremonial coffee.
Well, at least tomorrow is Friday.
How do you distinguish between a test that is testing something significant or just there because you think you need it? #tdd #programming
Life is devastating when you expect more than you get. #life #failure
I shall be at #mdc3con this yarn again. Want to (safely) meet up and chat? I’ll buy you a drink.
“He was nether an obese, nor a fat man. But, he had twenty pounds of extra marshmallows that he hoarded hoping to dole it out to a suitable female.” #writing #throwawayline
Takeaway from #phillyete was to consider tech as a “screaming baby that needs constant attention and needs to be fed by plugging it in.” The problem is the baby never grows up until money isn’t a driver. But, we can learn to ignore the baby. Flame on! #life #failure
Things I haven’t missed during the pandemic: Loud, drunk, obnoxious people. #covid19
If you don’t schedule time to be creative, creativity will look like magic. #life #business #creativity #success
Before you climb the hill, you have to first see the hill. #life #business #success

I have an urge to read some Richard Dawkins.
OK. I didn’t know this existed. Now I need to incorporate it. untappd.com/api/docs #api #beer
Why isn’t there a Keno with Nekos?
Now that the editor template can read my migrated data, it’s time to wire up the ability to make changes and persist them. I’ll do that next week. #iPadOS #SwiftUI
I like when I refactor my code, but I’m always concerned a new/future feature will require the old code structure… (it’s not about testing). #programming
Now that #Phillyete is over, tomorrow, I will focus on getting back into my rut with some new-fangled knowledge.
The refactoring menu in #XCode doesn’t seem to do much with #SwiftUI. I tend to refactor manually, as a result. I’d also like a utility to sort things in a single file alphabetically. It would solve a lot of “could not be completed…” compiler type errors. #programming
I dipped my toe into Combine this morning. It simplified a bunch of code as a result. Nice. I’m just using it at its very basic level. #iPadOS #swiftui #combine
Commit after every code change seems excessive, but it appears to work nicely given the tooling. Too bad it’s just Java, it seems. #programmng #phillyete
I still want a “return if else” in #Swift. It would simplify code a ton. #programming
Story idea: “The Drunk” A man gains superpowers whenever he gets drunk, but always passes out before he can save anyone. He fights for consciousness and self-esteem when his family is placed in peril. #writing
I missed a lot of posts during the past few days. It’s time to try to catch up.
Story idea: “Relations” Two women discover they are long-lost sisters and are married to the same man who knows their relationship. #writing
