You can have a book/story with no conflict if you establish the backstory is overwhelming conflict. Story isn’t about conflict. Story is the contrast between conflict and non-conflict, either the protagonist’s or the reader’s. Writing a good story with conflict is easier than the not. That’s why everyone does it.
